Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a personable and professional Gunroom Sales Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with sales processing, and supporting other customer communications within our specialised firearm and shooting accessories store. The ideal candidate will be organised, possess strong communication skills, and have a passion for shooting sports.

Duties

Primary role will be in processing sales and being available to respond quickly to customer enquiries in person, by phone and by email
Principal hours will be a full weekend every fortnight, plus additional cover as required to support during holidays etc.
Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance regarding products and services
Assist customers in selecting firearms and accessories ensuring compliance with legal requirements
Upsell relevant products and accessories to enhance customer satisfaction and maximise sales opportunities
Handle transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, including processing payments and issuing receipts
Provide information on product features, safety procedures, and legal regulations in a clear and professional manner
Manage phone enquiries with courteous phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately or providing information as needed
Keep the sales area clean, organised, and well-stocked at all times

Qualifications

Knowledge of firearms/shotguns is highly desirable, but additional training can be given
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse customer base
Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
Good phone etiquette when dealing with customer enquiries over the phone, and likewise for emails
Previous experience in retail sales or merchandising is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for all new staff members

This position offers an opportunity for a role in being an integral part of the team at Scotland's largest gun room. Being a team player is critical, working towards best solutions for customers and building the reputation of the business. The role may suit retired persons who can be flexible with hours, but any candidate can be considered.

Pay: From £13.00 per hour
