The Food House is seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to support the day-to-day operation of our kitchen in Banbridge. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver high-quality food, maintain excellent kitchen standards, and help lead a busy culinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate chef looking to develop their leadership skills in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in managing all aspects of kitchen operations.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Supervise and support kitchen staff during service.
- Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation standards are maintained.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory management.
- Help develop seasonal menus and daily specials.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
- Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen assistants.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient working environment.
- Take responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
Requirements (Essential)
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP procedures.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Desirable
- Relevant culinary qualification.
- Experience in menu development and cost control.
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience working in a high-volume restaurant or café environment.
