Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Plumbing & Heating Engineer to join our team, primarily working within domestic properties, with occasional commercial projects. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing and heating systems across a range of residential homes and selected commercial premises.
The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. This position offers the opportunity to utilise a diverse range of technical skills in a dynamic environment, while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair plumbing and heating systems including boilers, radiators, pipework, cylinders, and underfloor heating systems.
- Carry out routine servicing and maintenance to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.
- Diagnose faults accurately and implement effective, long-term solutions.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and plumbing tools to complete installations and repairs to a high standard.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, manufacturer instructions, and specifications.
- Safely handle and lift equipment and materials in line with manual handling regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of works completed, materials used, and compliance documentation.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and company procedures at all times.
- Drive company vehicles when required for the transportation of tools and materials.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in plumbing and heating installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with a clear understanding of heating system components and operation.
- Competent in the use of hand tools and power tools relevant to plumbing and heating works.
- Ability to fault-find efficiently and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
- Basic maths skills for measurements, system calculations, and interpreting technical diagrams.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple jobs effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within the plumbing and heating trade (from being fully qualified)
- NVQ Level 2 & Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating
- Current ACS Gas Qualifications including:
- CCN1
- CENWAT (including CPA1)
- CKR1
- Competent in all aspects of domestic gas work
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
- Confidence in communicating professionally with letting agency tenants, landlords, and office staff
Desirable (Not Essential)
- LPG qualification
- OFTEC qualification
- Additional domestic gas categories
Wages negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
