Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Garden Centre Manager to lead our retail operations in Honiton. The successful candidate will oversee daily store activities, manage a team of staff, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the garden centre team, including recruitment, training, and performance management
- Oversee daily store operations to ensure smooth running and high levels of customer satisfaction
- Manage sales targets and develop strategies to increase revenue through effective merchandising and promotional activities
- Organise stock levels, inventory control, and replenishment to meet customer demand
- Implement visual merchandising standards to enhance product presentation and optimise sales opportunities
- Maintain excellent communication with staff and customers, ensuring clear information flow and addressing any issues promptly
- Monitor health and safety compliance within the store environment
- Analyse sales data to identify trends and opportunities for growth
- Coordinate with suppliers for stock orders and deliveries
- Manage administrative tasks including scheduling, reporting, and budgeting
- Manage a busy cafe
Skills
- Proven management experience within retail or garden centre environments
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent organisational skills with effective time management capabilities
- Outstanding communication skills, including phone etiquette and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in merchandising techniques to optimise product displays
- Experience in sales management with a focus on achieving targets
- Ability to supervise staff effectively while fostering a collaborative team environment
- Multilingual or bilingual skills are advantageous for engaging diverse customer groups
- Administrative experience with good organisational skills for handling reports and scheduling tasks
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced setting
