Trainee Accountant / Accounts Assistant

Salary: £24,500 - £26,000 per annum

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Accountant to join our friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in accountancy and gain exposure to all areas of practice.
The Role
You will work closely with experienced colleagues and receive support and training across a variety of accounting and taxation disciplines. This is a hands-on role offering excellent career development opportunities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Bookkeeping and bank reconciliations using Excel and accounting software
- Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns and management accounts
- Supporting the preparation of annual accounts and tax returns
- Assisting with monthly payroll processing and year-end payroll duties
- Supporting company secretarial work
- Responding to day-to-day client queries in a professional manner
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring deadlines are met
- Providing excellent client service at all times
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Motivated and keen to develop a career in accountancy
- Numerate with strong attention to detail
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks
- A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
- Comfortable working with Excel and Microsoft Office
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Professional, reliable and eager to learn
Qualifications & Experience
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related subject is desirable but not essential
- Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience is advantageous but not required
- Experience with accounting software would be beneficial
