Location:
The location for this role will be based in Ilkeston office although nationwide works will be required. You are to report to your line manager situated in the specified office. You will also be required to work nights, some weekends and to work away from home as per the business needs of the company.

Main Objectives:
The Lead Inspector / Trainee Project Manager is a senior technical role designed to develop experienced inspectors into future Project Managers.
The postholder will continue to undertake and lead structural inspection, investigation, testing and reporting activities whilst progressively taking responsibility for planning, programming, commercial awareness, client liaison and project delivery.
Working alongside experienced Project Managers, the successful candidate will gradually assume responsibility for managing projects from initial planning through to completion while maintaining the highest standards of technical quality, health & safety and client service.
The role requires regular site work, including working at height, confined spaces, over water, within traffic management and on a variety of structural assets throughout the UK. Physical fitness appropriate to the role is therefore essential.
Key Accountabilities (please note this is not an exhaustive list of duties but represents the main requirements of the role):
Technical Leadership
- Lead structural inspections, investigations and testing works.
- Carry out Principal, General and Special Inspections in accordance with CS450/CD450 and other relevant standards.
- Complete desktop studies, review previous reports and drawings prior to site works.
- Produce accurate inspection reports using company reporting systems.
- Review and technically check reports produced by other inspectors.
- Ensure inspection quality and consistency across projects.
- Assist with specialist investigations and NDT activities.
- Maintain high technical standards across all inspection activities.
Project Delivery
- Lead small to medium inspection projects from planning through completion.
- Assist Project Managers in delivering larger and more complex projects.
- Prepare RAMS, permits and Health & Safety documentation.
- Programme inspections and allocate resources.
- Arrange specialist access, traffic management, plant and equipment.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates.
- Record project performance against programme.
- Support procurement of subcontractors where required.
- Assist with project close-out and client reporting.
Client Management
- Act as the day-to-day contact for allocated clients.
- Liaise professionally with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Attend client meetings when required.
- Support development of long-term client relationships.
- Promote company services and identify opportunities for additional works.
Commercial Development (Training)
Working towards full Project Manager responsibilities by assisting with:
