About Wylfa Hardtops
Wylfa Hardtops is a small, hardworking team based in Corwen, North Wales — designing and manufacturing premium pickup hardtops and canopies for the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Mitsubishi L200. From agricultural canopies with integrated dog boxes to heavy-duty utility hardtops, everything we make is built for real working life.

The Role
This isn't a desk job where you'll be pushing the same drawings around for years. This is a chance to get stuck in from day one — designing real products that real people use, at a company that's moving fast and has serious ambition behind it.
You'll work directly with our team to design, develop, and refine our hardtop range — from initial concept through to production-ready models. If you're hungry to learn, grow, and leave your mark on products you can be genuinely proud of, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for hardtops, canopies, and associated fittings
- Design new products and develop existing lines for Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi L200, and future vehicle platforms
- Produce sheet metal, GRP, and fabrication drawings suitable for manufacture
- Collaborate with the production and fabrication team to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective
- Iterate designs based on feedback, testing, and real-world use
- Maintain an organised library of design files, revisions, and technical documentation
- Support the development of accessories such as roof bars, dog boxes, storage systems, and other add-ons
- Assist with custom or bespoke customer projects where required
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience with Fusion 360 — you should be confident producing 3D models, assemblies, and production-ready drawings
- A background in or solid understanding of the engineering industry — whether through formal qualifications, an apprenticeship, or practical work experience
- Ability to produce accurate sheet metal, fabrication, or GRP drawings suitable for manufacture
- A practical, problem-solving mindset — you understand how things are actually built, not just designed on screen
- Good communication skills and ability to work closely within a small, hands-on team
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload
- Must be based within approximately 20 miles of Corwen, North Wales
Nice to Have
- Experience in the automotive aftermarket, agricultural equipment, or vehicle accessories sector
- Knowledge of engineering principles — tolerances, material properties, structural considerations
- Experience with rendering, visualisation, or CAM workflows within Fusion 360
- Knowledge of powder coating, welding, or fabrication processes
