Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Playgroup Assistant to support early childhood development within our community nursery. This role involves working closely with young children to facilitate engaging activities, promote learning, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate leadership qualities to assist in creating a positive playgroup experience. Previous nursery or early childhood education experience is preferred, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Support children during playtime, ensuring their safety and engagement at all times
- Help maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment for children and staff
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication
- Supervise children both indoors and outdoors, ensuring adherence to safety protocols
- Support the implementation of nursery policies and procedures in line with regulatory standards
- Assist in behavioural management strategies to encourage good conduct and cooperation among children
- Contribute to the organisation of daily routines such as snack times, nappy changes, and story sessions
- Catering and cleaning duties are also expected.
Experience
- Proven experience working with young children in a childcare or nursery setting is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Previous experience in childcare roles such as nursery assistant or similar positions preferred
