Full job description

Hotel Porter

The Hotel Porter is responsible for supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the hotel during both day and night shifts. The role involves assisting guests and staff, handling deliveries, maintaining cleanliness in public and back-of-house areas, and providing support to housekeeping, bar, and kitchen teams when needed. The Hotel Porter may also be required to cover night porter duties to help ensure the hotel operates efficiently at all times along with Holiday cover.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out day and night porter duties as required
Assist with receiving, moving, and storing deliveries safely and efficiently
Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in public areas, service areas, and staff areas
Support the housekeeping team with linen, room supplies, and general duties
Assist bar and kitchen staff with basic support duties of stocking and putting away deliveries
Set up rooms or function areas as needed
Help with guest requests in a polite, professional, and timely manner
Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times
Dispose of waste correctly and keep storage areas organised
Provide cover for night porter shifts when required
Report maintenance issues, damages, or safety concerns to management
Support other departments to help maintain high standards of service across the hotel

Skills and Requirements:

Good communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
Ability to carry out physical tasks and be on your feet for long periods
Reliable, hardworking, and flexible approach to duties
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic understanding of health and safety procedures
Previous hotel or hospitality experience is helpful but not always essential
Must have access to private transport

Summary:
This is a varied and hands-on role suited to someone who is flexible, dependable, and willing to support different hotel departments to ensure guests receive excellent service and the hotel runs smoothly.

Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
