Overview
We are seeking an experienced PSV Mechanic to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, specialising in PSV (Public Service Vehicles). The ideal applicant will possess comprehensive knowledge of fabrication, welding, electrical schematics, and equipment repair, with a focus on delivering high-quality service to our clients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on PSV vehicles, including buses and coaches, to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Perform fabrication tasks such as welding and soldering to repair or modify vehicle components.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs efficiently.
- Assemble new components or parts as required for vehicle upgrades or repairs.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate lifting equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of all work carried out for compliance and future reference.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance schedules.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a PSV Mechanic or similar role within the heavy vehicle maintenance industry.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in fabrication, welding, soldering, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics accurately.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of vehicle assembly, equipment repair, maintenance procedures, and safety standards.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in physically demanding environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused approach.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical or electrical trades are preferred but not essential.
