Full job description

HOURS: 22.5 hours per week, working across 3 days. Working pattern to be discussed but availability to work weekends is essential.

SALARY: £13.21 per hour plus 50p weekend incentive on Saturday and Sunday

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Chef to join our small kitchen team at Hastings.

In this role you will initially work closely with the Kitchen Supervisor to learn how to prepare and modify nutritional food to a high standard, taking special dietary needs into account. Thereafter, you will be required to work independently to prepare meals as required, so the ability to problem solve and manage your own time is essential.

You will have a clear understanding of the food consistencies medically required by different residents, why these are important and how to achieve them safely without supervision.

You will also be able to follow guidelines and processes to prepare menus as planned by the Kitchen Supervisor along with contributing to ideas around seasonal menu design.

Observance of Health and Safety Requirements with particular regard to maintain a high standard of hygiene at all times in accordance with appropriate Food Hygiene Regulations using “Safer Food Better Business Manual” is also required.

The successful candidate will hold Basic Food Hygiene certificate NVQ 1 or equivalent or be prepared to complete training online prior to starting.

We also need you to be prepared to work flexible hours, including some weekend work and additional shifts to cover holiday within the team. The shifts we require will be discussed at interview.
