Volunteer Role Description – Food Share Assistant
Role Title: Food Share Assistant (Volunteer)
Reports to: Foodshare Coordinator
Supported by: Paid staff (for administration and compliance tasks)
Location: Ferry Farm Road, Llandudno Junction. LL31 9SF
Days/Hours: Tuesday, Thursday (sessions typically 2–3 hours, rota-based 9am - 12 pm)
Purpose of the Role
To support the smooth running of Food Share sessions by helping with the organisation, set-up, distribution of food, and providing a friendly, supportive environment for all service users. Volunteers will be the main point of contact during Food Share sessions, ensuring the service is delivered in a welcoming, safe, and dignified manner.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Set up the Food Share area before sessions and pack away afterwards.
· Welcome service users and provide a friendly, respectful, and supportive environment.
· Assist in organising and distributing food parcels fairly and efficiently.
· Keep basic records of food distributed (tick sheets, numbers served).
· Ensure stock is handled safely, rotated correctly, and food hygiene standards are followed.
· Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality policies.
· Work as part of a volunteer team to ensure smooth delivery.
· Report any concerns, issues, or safeguarding matters to the Volunteer Coordinator or staff lead.

· Willingness to undertake basic training (food hygiene, safeguarding).

Support & Training
· Induction, safeguarding, and food hygiene training provided.
· Ongoing support from Volunteer Coordinator and experienced volunteers.
· Opportunities for personal development and progression (e.g. Lead Volunteer).
Time Commitment
We ask for a commitment to at least one regular session per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday), though flexibility and occasional cover may also be needed.
