QUARRY FIXED PLANT OPERATOR
Reporting To: Assistant Quarry Manager
Based: Needingworth
JOB PURPOSE
The Quarry Fixed Plant Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring fixed plant equipment used in quarry production, such as crushers, conveyors, screens, and batching plants. Their role ensures efficient processing of raw materials while maintaining safety and productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Plant Operation & Maintenance
· Operate and monitor crushing, screening, and washing equipment.
· Adjust machinery settings to optimize production efficiency.
· Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on fixed plant machinery.
Safety & Compliance
· Follow all health and safety regulations within the quarry.
· Conduct pre-start checks and report equipment faults or hazards.
· Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
Quality Control & Material Handling
· Monitor the quality of raw materials and processed aggregates.
· Ensure correct material feed rates and consistent output specifications.
· Prevent contamination of materials during production.
Equipment Troubleshooting & Reporting
· Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
· Work with maintenance teams to coordinate repairs and servicing.
· Maintain logs and records of plant operations and downtime reports.
SKILLS
· Experience operating crushers, conveyors, screens, and other quarry processing equipment.
· Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
· Understanding of plant automation systems (if applicable).
· Ability to read and follow work instructions and equipment manuals.
EXPERIENCE
· 1-3 years in a quarry, or heavy industrial environment.
· Hands-on experience with fixed plant machinery.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
HOURS
Your normal working hours will be 40 hours per week, excluding lunch breaks (paid/unpaid).
SALARY
Your hourly pay rate will be £14.00.
