We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team at our Head Office in Whitstable. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to further their career in a dynamic, growing business.
Job Description:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of civils projects from start to finish. You will work closely with Contracts Managers, Site Supervisors, and other key members of the team, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. We are looking for someone, ideally from a civils background, who is astute, confident, and commercially aware.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
· Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Preparing accurate cost estimates, quotations, and budgets for projects, ensuring financial control and cost-effective solutions.
· Project Cost Management: Collaborating with project teams to monitor and manage costs throughout the lifecycle of the project, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
· Variation Management: Assessing and managing variations, claims, and contract changes, working with all parties to resolve issues and ensure compliance with the contract.
· Procurement & Contract Administration: Supporting the procurement process by obtaining quotes, evaluating bids, and assisting in the negotiation of contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
· Software Proficiency: Utilising industry-standard quantity surveying software to track project costs, prepare reports, and manage financial data.
· Documentation & Reporting: Ensuring accurate and comprehensive records of project costs, financial reports, and invoices, keeping all stakeholders updated.
· Cost Control & Cash Flow Management: Monitoring project cash flow and ensuring the timely preparation and issuance of applications and invoices, adhering to strict deadlines.
· Data Management: Handling large volumes of data, performing financial analysis, and making recommendations to improve project profitability.
· Cost Optimisation: Identifying opportunities for cost-saving and efficiency improvements in collaboration with the operations and project management teams.
Requirements:
· Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a relevant industry, with a solid understanding of cost management, budgeting, and procurement.
· A relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS accreditation, or equivalent).
· Strong understanding of civils processes, contract law, and financial management within the industry.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly and concisely.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and cost management.
· Advanced numerical and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
· Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level), and experience with industry-standard quantity surveying software.
· Ability to proactively identify issues and implement solutions to maintain project cost control.
· Strong ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, building strong professional relationships.
· A full, valid UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
