As the industry’s charity, our cause is to create, hope and health and happiness for everyone in retail. Yes, that’s right, everyone. That’s more than three million retail colleagues and their families. And you can help to achieve that mission.
The role
Your day will be spent overseeing and delivering cleaning and preparation of our Retirement Living Estate’s communal areas, including cleaning all areas of our corridors, communal leisure and activity areas and some offices and empty properties. Ensuring that they are clean, safe and hygienic environments for our residents, staff and visitors to be in.
Although you won’t clean our residents’ personal accommodation, there will be significant contact with our residents and visitors to the Estate, as such you will need to be sensitive to the needs and rights of residents during the cleaning and housekeeping processes.
You’ll be empathetic and have a compassionate nature to communicate with and understand the needs of our residents and wider team members.
Requirements
You will have experience and/or training in a domestic or housekeeping environment and be committed to maintaining consistently high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. The role will also involve supporting the set‑up of activity and event spaces when required.
You will have:
- An understanding of the safe use of cleaning chemicals and products
- Knowledge of safe working practices, including moving and handling
- A flexible approach to work
This role is primarily worked Monday to Friday, between 9.00am and 5.00pm. However, flexibility is required, as you may occasionally be asked to cover colleagues’ holiday or sickness absences.
