James A. Cuthbertson Ltd, known locally as “Cubbys”, are manufacturers of winter maintenance equipment and commercial vehicle bodies. We are renowned for our high-quality products and outstanding service as well as our historic brand which reaches back to 1936.

WELDER / FABRICATOR

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a background in welding and fabrication to join our fabrication team. The role will focus on the fabrication and welding of commercial vehicle bodywork such as salt spreaders (gritters) & tipper bodies as well as other key components and parts. This is a permanent, full-time post. The successful candidate will work within our workshop and yard facility in Biggar, South Lanarkshire.

Candidate Requirements:

A time served Welder / Fabricator ideally with 2+ years experience.
Skilled in MIG and aluminium welding.
Experience with MMA and TIG welding would be advantageous but not essential.
Previous experience in commercial vehicle body building (subframe and chassis trial fit) would be advantageous but not essential.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, accurately marking out jobs, carrying out dimensional checks and also drilling with reference to engineering drawings.
Experienced in the use of guillotines and metal folders.
Knowledge of plasma cutting processes and commercial vehicle hydraulic systems would be advantageous.
Flexible and prepared to work under own initiative as well as being able to work as part of a team.
Self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude.
Awareness and knowledge of Health & Safety and its impact in a workshop environment.

Monday - Friday 08:00 – 16:30

Full-time, Permanent

Holiday Entitlement of 34 days per year
