Holidays: from 23 rising to 27 days plus 8, bank holidays and 3 additional statutory days
Nine-day working fortnight
Hours: 74 working hours per fortnight

The Water Management Consortium (WMC) provides water level management services for Lindsey Marsh Drainage Board, the Isle of Axholme and North Nottinghamshire Water Level Management Board, Trent Valley Internal Drainage Board and Doncaster East Internal Drainage Board, managing 92 pumping stations and 2,400km of watercourse that protect assets across an area of 147,665 hectares.

The Finance Team proactively supports the Organisation in managing its finances to be able to operate efficiently, and in the best interests of the Boards and the members of the public we serve.
The Deputy Finance Manager has a key role to play in achieving the WMC’s mission, will be proficient in all aspects of accounting practices and have a strong collaborative leadership approach, and effective management skills. Commitment, loyalty and a genuine interest in the work of the WMC is therefore important to us.
The Role:
Based at our office in Manby, the successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager and be responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the finance service to the WMC and deputising for the Finance Manager as and when required.
Core Responsibilities include:
- Leadership and management of the Finance Team’s Accountancy and Payroll functions.
- Preparation and production of accounts.
- Production and ongoing analysis of budgets and variances.
- Undertaking the annual audit and year end processes.
- Supporting the Finance Manager in the preparation of the annual estimates process.
- Preparation of the monthly accounts report for the CEO and Chairmen.
- Preparation of project v’s budget reports to the Engineering Team.
- Overseeing the VAT process.
- Working with banks and investment providers.
- Dealing with credit and supplier applications.
- Supporting the Finance Manager in preparing Board reports.
- Completing national statistics reports.
You will require the following:
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA Qualification is essential.
- Demonstrable and sound experience of practicing in all areas of accountancy responsibilities is also essential.
- Knowledge of Accounting Standards (FRS and IFRS) is essential.
- Proven experience in leading and managing people.
- Attention to detail and accuracy skills are essential.
- Strong analytical approach.
- Highly service orientated and output driven.
- Sound commercial acumen.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Resilient and flexible to meet peaks and troughs of the financial accounting calendar.
- Sound experience of effectively using financial systems is essential (use of SAGE 200 is desirable), or other accounting software.
- Use of excel and word essential.
- Payroll experience is essential.
- Previous experience of Rating is not essential.
