The role is based on a 4 on 4 off rota, with holiday included within the rota.
Job Overview
To maintain the operations of the Recycling Plant in such a way as to maximise efficiency, ensuring continuity of safety and maximum production levels.
The Recycling Plant receives incoming (WEEE) waste electrical and electronic equipment and separates this into separate commodity streams. These commodities such as ferrous/non-ferrous metals, plastics and precious metals are sold to an international market. The operations are managed with the business focus on the customer and the functional focus on shared efficiency across the entire site.
The job holder has responsibility for keeping the plant operational with as little downtime as possible.
- Granulator Servicing- Changing/Setting knives, wear bars, screen, Hydraulics system, cleaning, greasing etc.
- Maintenance on Ring Crusher and other plant on site.
- Maintain spares stocks on system and report low stocks.
- Work with the Shift Managers and all teams within the plant to best optimise production and schedule repairs.
- Prepare and prioritise work at the start of the shift. This will include PPM’s (Planned Preventative Maintenance), Reported problems, routine maintenance.
- Liaise with Fabricators as required
- Cover for other Lead Fitters days and nights when required.
- Monitor and record repairs completed through the shift
- Carry out regular stock checks of parts that are required and email parts that are low to Maintenance Manager
- Liaise with the management constantly to update when required
- Check reason for faults/failures and suggest solutions to prevent happening again
- Check and control equipment such as ladders, harnesses, lifting equipment, MEWP’s (Mechanical Handling Equipment), tools and PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
Responsible for ensuring you and your assistant are wearing the correct PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), have the correct training according to the training matrix and are working to the SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and are observing site Health and Safety rules.
- Ensure all equipment is safe to use with all guards in place at all times
- Follow documented procedures and SWP’s (Safe Working Practices)
- Ensure Risk Assessments are done when required
- Ensure any incidents on your shift are recorded and reported to the Health & Safety Manager
- Working specifically to our environmental management system, you are responsible for ensuring correct procedure is followed for treatment of spills, emissions, oil storage and effectiveness of netting
- Monitor and record spillages from conveyors and cause.
- Keep workshop tidy and ensure all tools and equipment are returned to where they belong.
- Report areas which continue to be a problem
- It is your responsibility to ensure that any areas you have worked in are tidied when the job is finished
- At the end of each shift the maintenance handover sheet is to be updated with problems experienced and how the problem was solved.
You must hand over with the new shift. Both of you must sign the report to agree the information provided
