Contract Type: Freelance
Salary: £10 per twenty-minute lesson
We are seeking to expand our peripatetic music provision and are currently looking to appoint 2 skilled and enthusiastic freelance teachers (1 piano and 1 woodwind) to deliver high-quality instrumental lessons to our students.
These are freelance positions, with lessons delivered on-site during the school day. We provide a suitable teaching space and support with student sign-up; however, all peripatetic teachers operate on a self-employed basis and invoice parents directly for lessons. Rates are set consistently across all instruments within the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with motivated students in a school that places a strong emphasis on enrichment, creativity, and the performing arts. Preston School has a clear and ambitious vision: Achieving Excellence, Inspiring Ambition – For Every Student, Every Day. We are committed to offering a broad and engaging curriculum, including high-quality music provision, and are seeking a peripatetic teacher who shares this commitment.
Based in the heart of Somerset, the successful applicant will join a welcoming and supportive school community, with students who are keen to engage in musical opportunities.
We encourage early applications for this role and reserve the right to close the vacancy early if sufficient applications are received.

· A commitment to high standards of teaching and musical progression
· Strong organisational skills, including timetabling and communication with families
· A professional who can build positive relationships with students, staff and parents
· Relevant musical qualifications and/or significant teaching experience
What We Offer:
· Access to a well-equipped teaching space within the school day
· Administrative support with student recruitment and timetabling
