Android Platform Engineer

National Security Business: Be part of a growing and highly trusted supplier into the NS domain working to deliver mission critical solutions that help keep the nation safe, secure and prosperous. Work on leading edge technology solutions including AI/DS, Cyber, Cloud, DevOps and SRE.

We have secured long term work, across the full spectrum, on the latest framework with the client, which provides the springboard for our ongoing growth and development in this domain, so join us on what will be an incredible growth journey.

Role: In this role, you will develop highly bespoke software for the Android ecosystem. This will not just be app development - you’ll gain the skills to develop code across the entire Android tech stack, working in partnership on unique projects that deliver mission critical outcomes.

In a world where new apps are designed to deliver turnover & profit, you’ll be solving problems to deliver functional code to Roke’s National Security partners; not uploading to app stores and hoping for a viral sensation.

As an Android Platform Engineer, you’ll relish the opportunity to work on problems where Stack Overflow or a ChatGPT prompt will only get you so far; your technically curious nature will allow you to create bespoke code, driving forward the country’s safety through compelling delivery.

The key requirements

App development experience with Java and Android Studio.

Exposure to Android or Linux internals

Experience with low level coding languages such as C and C++.

Where you’ll work… You’ll be based at our Romsey site located within beautiful Hampshire countryside, close to the picturesque New Forest District and not far from a superb stretch of the south coast. This is no corporate concrete jungle; this is a manor house site, with an on-site gym, restaurant, parking and a driveway full of daffodils in the spring.

Clearances… Due to the nature of this role, we require you to be eligible to achieve SC / DV clearance.
