Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning and safety of our facilities and equipment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and programmable systems, combined with leadership and customer service skills. The Maintenance Operative will play a vital part in maintaining operational efficiency, troubleshooting issues, and supervising maintenance activities as required.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and facilities to minimise downtime.
Repair and maintain mechanical systems, including welding and mechanical components.
Diagnose electrical faults using schematics and electrical experience; perform necessary repairs or replacements.
Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot and optimise automated processes.
Read and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, and manuals to facilitate repairs and upgrades.
Supervise maintenance tasks, providing guidance to junior team members where appropriate.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and organisational policies.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work carried out, including parts used and time taken.
Assist with training new team members in maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal client needs promptly and professionally.

Requirements

Proven experience in maintenance roles with a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems.
Knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Skilled in welding, electrical repairs, and general mechanical work.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Customer service orientation with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant certifications or qualifications in electrical or mechanical trades are preferred but not essential. This role offers an engaging environment where technical expertise meets leadership opportunity within a professional setting committed to safety and excellence.
