The Role
To lead the HRDD agenda within the Thistle Seafoods Supply chain. A Human Rights Manager (HRDD) role focuses on identifying, preventing, mitigating, and accounting for how an organisation manages human rights—especially within its own operations and supply chains.
Key Responsibilities
- Define Thistle Seafoods HRDD Strategy and Policy in seafood and our wider supply chain so we are regarded as the industry lead in emerging and known topics
- To lead the HRDD agenda in the Thistle CSR team
- Define, monitor and manage the key HRDD KPI’s that drive the HRDD agenda
- To engage with our retail customers to help shape their HRDD agenda within our supply chain, within their own strategies while influencing them from an industry perspective
- Proactively engage with relevant Government legislative agendas in order to shape the future of HRDD within our supply chain
- Engage with third party stakeholders to help shape the HRDD landscape
- Conduct human rights risk assessments across our supply chain in order to manage current and emerging risks
- Map supply chains to identify high-risk geographies and sectors
- Identify and work with key third parties who can assist in the identification and management of HRDD risks in the supply chain
- Act as a subject matter expert in ethical seafood sourcing within global, multinational supply chains
- Stay informed on emerging human rights risks, regulatory developments, and best practices, benchmarking against relevant frameworks
- Develop and implement action plans to prevent or mitigate identified risks, working collaboratively with suppliers to improve standards and practices
- Deliver training and build awareness where required among employees, suppliers, and partners on human rights standards and HRDD responsibilities
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required by senior leadership

Experience:
- Extensive knowledge of international human rights within fish, food, ingredients and packaging
- Risk assessment and analytical skills
- Stakeholder engagement and communication
- Understanding of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles
- Project management and cross-functional collaboration
- A strong knowledge and understanding of sustainability issues is desirable
- Experience working in responsible sourcing (e.g., within UK food context) is desirable
- Understanding of business and human rights is essential
Education/Qualifications:
Desirable to have a relevant degree including but not limited to:
- International/Human Rights Law
- International Relations/ Studies
- Politics/Political Science
- Development Studies/Global Development
- Public Policy/Administration
- Business Management/Administration
- Social Justice Studies/Social sciences
Hours of Work
- Hours of work will be 40 hours per week. Actual hours of work will be flexible and will depend on the demands of the role. However, it is anticipated your regular working hours will be 8.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
- Traveling may be required.
