Groundworkers Required – Major Housing Development Scheme
Location: St Austell, Cornwall
Overview
We are currently recruiting experienced and reliable Groundworkers to join our team on a major residential development scheme in St Austell, Cornwall, involving the construction of over 1,500 new homes.
We are specifically looking for:
Groundworks Finishing Gangs
Foundations Groundworkers
Drainage Gangs / Operatives
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals and gangs seeking long-term, stable work on one of Cornwall’s largest housing developments. We are looking for hardworking operatives with strong site experience, a good attitude, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Finishing Groundworkers
Kerbing, edging, slabbing, and paving
Installation of ironwork and finishing works
Preparing plots and roads to handover standard
General external finishing and reinstatement works
Foundations Groundworkers
Excavation and preparation for foundations
Setting out and pouring concrete foundations
Footings, oversites, and groundwork preparation
Working from site drawings and levels
Drainage Groundworkers
Installation of deep and shallow drainage systems
Pipe laying, manholes, gullies, and associated works
Trench excavation and backfilling
Testing and ensuring drainage systems meet specification
General Duties
Maintain high standards of health & safety on site
Work efficiently to programme deadlines
Operate safely around plant and machinery
Keep work areas clean and organised
Work collaboratively with site management and other trades
Requirements
Proven experience in groundworks on housing or civil engineering projects
Valid CSCS Card (essential)
CPCS/NPORS Dumper or Roller tickets advantageous
Ability to read drawings and work independently
Reliable, hardworking, and safety conscious
Experience working on large-scale residential developments preferred
