Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Motor Mechanic to join our team. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, providing a valuable foundation for a career in automotive engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced technicians, gaining practical skills in diagnosing and fixing various vehicle issues. A keen interest in mechanical systems and a willingness to learn are essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the inspection and diagnosis of vehicle faults using schematics and technical manuals
- Support the disassembly and assembly of engine components and other mechanical parts
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance tasks
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tyre replacements
- Contribute to equipment repair and troubleshooting activities to ensure optimal vehicle performance
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, adhering to health and safety standards
- Support senior mechanics with heavy lifting tasks and the movement of heavy parts or equipment
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients about repair work when required
Experience
- No prior experience necessary; however, familiarity with schematics, mechanical knowledge, and basic use of hand tools is advantageous
- A strong interest in automotive systems and mechanical maintenance is essential
- Previous experience with assembly, power tools, equipment repair, welding, or general maintenance will be considered a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently is required
- Willingness to learn new skills through on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced technicians
