Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing heavy goods vehicles and related equipment. The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical expertise, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise a broad range of technical skills, including fabrication, welding, and electrical troubleshooting, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our fleet.

Duties

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs,
Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams; perform repairs accordingly.
Carry out fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly work as required for repairs or modifications.
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs performed.
Assist with equipment repair and maintenance tasks across various machinery within the depot.
Support the safe lifting and manoeuvring of heavy components through proper handling techniques.
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations while delivering excellent customer service to internal teams.

Requirements

Proven experience in heavy vehicle maintenance or a similar mechanical role.
Strong electrical experience combined with mechanical knowledge.
Proficiency in reading schematics and technical diagrams.
Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and use of hand tools and power tools.
Experience working with specialised equipment such as excavators and forklifts is desirable.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Good organisational skills for maintaining accurate service records.
Customer service orientation with effective communication skills.
Relevant qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering are advantageous but not essential. This position offers an engaging environment for individuals passionate about vehicle maintenance and repair within a dynamic operational setting. Pay: £25,883.70-£52,761.64 per year
