Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our financial team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing financial records, preparing reports, and supporting the organisation’s financial health. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in accounting and experience with various accounting software platforms. The role requires a proactive approach to financial management and the ability to mentor junior team members.

Duties

Prepare, examine, and analyse financial statements and reports using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other relevant platforms.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes efficiently to ensure timely payments and collections.
Oversee financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organisational policies and regulatory standards.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to support strategic decision-making.
Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes with meticulous attention to detail.
Mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices and professional development.
Collaborate with external auditors during audits by preparing necessary documentation and explanations.
Maintain organised records of all financial documents for easy retrieval and compliance purposes.

Experience

Proven experience working as an Accountant within a professional environment, ideally with exposure to financial services sectors.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or equivalent platforms is essential.
Demonstrable knowledge of financial management principles including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff is advantageous but not essential.
A recognised qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) is preferred but not mandatory for highly experienced candidates.
