Barista / Waitress — Medina's Café, Glasgow
Job Overview
Medina's Café is looking for a friendly and efficient Barista/Waitress with a passion for specialty coffee to join our vibrant team in the heart of Glasgow. This role is all about delivering exceptional customer service, crafting quality coffee and food, and keeping the warm, welcoming atmosphere our regulars love. The ideal candidate knows their way around an espresso machine, takes pride in every cup, and thrives in a clean, organised space. This is a brilliant opportunity to grow your skills within Glasgow's specialty coffee and hospitality scene.
Duties
- Prepare and serve high-quality specialty coffee — espresso, pour-overs, and milk-based drinks — with consistency and care, plus a full range of teas and cold beverages to Medina's standards.
- Dial in grinders and maintain espresso equipment to keep every shot on point throughout the day.
- Practise good latte art and presentation that reflects the quality of the coffee.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt, friendly service.
- Serve food in a courteous manner and help customers with menu and coffee recommendations when needed.
- Keep workstations, dining areas, and equipment clean and in line with food safety regulations.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately and securely using the till system.
- Restock supplies throughout shifts to keep service running smoothly.
- Uphold food safety standards at all times, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Manage your time well during busy periods to keep service quick without dropping quality.
- Set up and clear tables, keeping the café tidy and inviting for every customer.
What We're Looking For
- Specialty coffee experience is essential — confident on the espresso machine, with solid milk steaming and latte art skills.
- A genuine interest in coffee quality, origins, and brewing methods.
- Previous experience as a barista or in a café/waiting role.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations is desirable.
- Basic maths for accurate cash handling.
- Strong organisation and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once.
- Good time management and the ability to prioritise during peak times.
- A friendly, approachable manner and excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a team and independently when needed.
If you love great coffee and enjoy creating positive experiences for customers in a lively, fast-paced setting, we'd love to hear from you.
