Our beautiful nursery at Ashwell Park, Ilminster is looking for a warm, enthusiastic and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join our leadership team and help create a nurturing environment where every child is cared for as if they were one of our own.
About the Role
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week over four days, with Monday as your fixed non-working day, offering an excellent work-life balance while providing consistency for our children, families and team.
As Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in both the leadership of the nursery and the day-to-day care of the children. You will have your own key group of children, building strong relationships with them and their families, while supporting the Nursery Manager in ensuring the nursery continues to deliver the exceptional standards of care and education that Nanny Bears is known for.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Nursery Manager in leading and motivating a positive, high-performing staff team.
- Leading by example and modelling outstanding Early Years practice across the nursery.
- Acting as a Key Person for your own group of children, building strong partnerships with families and supporting each child's individual learning and development.
- Supporting the day-to-day organisation and smooth running of the nursery.
- Helping to maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance with the EYFS.
- Mentoring and supporting practitioners in their professional development.
- Encouraging creativity, curiosity and child-led learning throughout the nursery.
- Building positive relationships with children, families and external professionals.
- Promoting the Nanny Bears ethos by creating a calm, welcoming and home-from-home environment.

What We're Looking For
Essential
- Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (minimum).
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Room Lead or in a similar leadership role.
- Sound knowledge of child development and the EYFS Framework.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting and motivating a team.
- Positive, enthusiastic and child-centred approach.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to use initiative and inspire creative, engaging learning experiences.
- A genuine passion for providing exceptional care and education.
Desirable
- Experience working with external professionals and agencies.
- Experience supporting inspections, audits or quality improvement initiatives.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and supporting others to grow.
