Working with young people age 7-18 we transform lives, helping them be the best they can be.

Opening in 2018, we're 8 years old. In those 8 years, we haven't stopped learning and we haven't stopped developing. From a global pandemic to the cost of living crisis, we are there for young people when they need us and adapt to their ever-changing needs.

Hours

5.45pm- 9.15pm Wednesdays and Saturdays 9:45am-1:15pm

The Role

As a Youth Worker at Inspire, you will deliver engaging, inclusive, fun and developmental youth work across the Youth Zone and local community. This includes face-to-face delivery in our teaching kitchen, rec area and health & wellbeing areas, as well as detached outreach in satellite centres, parks and neighbourhoods.

You will create a safe, welcoming and vibrant environment where young people can have fun, participate, build relationships and develop skills. Through both centre-based and detached work, you will engage young people where they feel comfortable, provide informal education, listen to their needs and support programmes and projects that are enjoyable, challenging and responsive.

Working alongside our team of Activity Coordinators, you will contribute to an evolving programme that promotes confidence, wellbeing and positive outcomes for all young people.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver a fun, engaging, and developmental programme for young people aged 7–18, incorporating a variety of activities such as baking/cooking, life skills, arts, games, challenges and wellbeing
Deliver face-to-face sessions both within the Youth Zone and through outreach/detached work in the community
Engage and build positive relationships with all young people, including those who are disengaged or from disadvantaged backgrounds
Manage behaviour positively, challenging discrimination and promoting respect and inclusion
Be a role model for young people and present a positive “can do” attitude
Undertake and attend regular training and development sessions and events where required
Support young people to develop skills, confidence and positive relationships through informal education
Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality sessions
Communicate effectively and professionally with young people, families, colleagues and the wider community
Ensure all activities follow safeguarding, health & safety and equality best practice
Carry out any other duties as required by Inspire, demonstrating flexibility and a positive approach to supporting the wider team

The Essentials

Experience of working with young people aged 7-18 years
Experience of working in a team
Knowledge of health and safety, diversity awareness and safeguarding best practice
Ability to engage and build positive relationships with young people
Experience of delivering a range of informal, creative activities to young people
Able to work both as part of a team and under own initiative
Able to communicate effectively with young people, parents, team members and members of the public

The Desirables

Experience of supporting young people who are disaffected, underachieving and/or have social/emotional barriers to participation
Experience of working within disadvantaged communities
Introduction to Youth Work or Youth and Community Work Level 1
Driving license
