Project RESET is an alternative education provider specialising in supporting children and young people aged 5+ to build the skills and confidence they need to thrive. The children and young people we work with need our help to find strategies and techniques to overcome barriers and re engage with education. We offer alternative part-time provision working with BCP and local primary and secondary schools.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding practices, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures. Any concerns regarding the safety or wellbeing of a child, young person or adult, must be reported and acted upon in line with organisational and statutory guidance.
About the Role:
As a RESET Tutor, you will play a key role in supporting children and young people to re-engage with education and make positive, lasting changes in their lives. Working with young people who may be facing a range of challenges, you will provide consistent one-to-one tutoring, guidance, and encouragement to help them rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and achieve their potential in education.
We are currently looking for Maths, English and Science tutors that can teach across Key Stages and where possible can support with English, Maths and Functional Skills at GCSE Level.
You will take a child-centred approach, building trusting, positive relationships that enable young people to feel safe, heard, and supported. Through tailored teaching and learning support, you will help them overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement with education, and develop essential academic and study skills.
The role involves working closely with families, schools, and partner agencies to create a coordinated support network around each young person. You will act as a positive role model, supporting them to build confidence in their learning, manage challenges, and make constructive choices.

Responsibilities:
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times, following relevant policies and procedures
- Provide consistent one-to-one tutoring support to children and young people, building positive and trusting relationships
- Plan and deliver tailored educational sessions to meet individual learning needs, abilities, and goals
- Support young people to re-engage with education, including improving attendance, behaviour, and participation
- Help individuals develop confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning
- Identify barriers to learning and work proactively with the young persons on roll school to help them overcome these challenges
- Collaboratively develop and implement individual learning plans based on each young person’s needs, strengths, and targets
- Assess, monitor, and track academic progress, adapting teaching approaches as needed
- Support the development of core skills such as literacy, numeracy, and study skills
- Work closely with schools, families, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated and holistic support approach
- Act as a positive role model, encouraging engagement, motivation, and respect for learning
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of sessions, progress, and outcomes in line with organisational requirements
- Monitor and review progress regularly, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders
- Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and training to support professional development
- Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture and the ongoing development of the RESET programme
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Must hold a current enhanced DBS, and be on the DBS update service.
- Must have either Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Early Years Experience or substantial relevant tutoring or specialist education experience.
- Appropriate first aid training qualification.
- Experience working with children and young people, particularly those facing barriers to education or additional needs such as SEMH, ASD and ADHD.
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people in a consistent and empathetic manner.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals.
- Understanding of the challenges affecting young people (e.g. disengagement from education, EBSA, social/emotional needs, behavioural difficulties).
- Ability to support the development of resilience, confidence, and positive behaviour.
- Experience of working in partnership with schools, families, and external agencies.
- Good organisational skills, including the ability to plan and implement effective teaching and learning strategies
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A flexible, proactive, and solution-focused approach.
- Valid UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.
Desirable:
- Training in areas such as safeguarding, child protection and mental health first aid.
- Understanding of trauma informed practice and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Experience working with children and young people in a SEMH, AP or similar setting.
