Wacky Playland is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and skilled Cook to join our kitchen team. This role provides weekday and weekend cover, including every other weekend, helping prepare our café and kitchen for busy mornings, daytime service, and special events.
Schedule: Weekdays and weekends (every other weekend required)
Responsibilities
- Prepare the kitchen for daily service and events.
- Cook and present breakfast and lunch dishes from our menu to a high standard.
- Assist with food preparation and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and allergen procedures.
- Support event catering requirements when required.
- Opportunity to contribute baking and homemade products for our café offering.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen.
- Ability to prepare and cook breakfast and lunch menu items independently.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures.
- Ability to follow recipes, specifications, and presentation standards consistently.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Good knife skills and confidence with basic food preparation techniques.
- Experience maintaining consistent food quality and portion control.
- A strong understanding of recipe adherence and the importance of following established standards.
- High personal standards when it comes to cleanliness, organisation, and working efficiently.
- The ability to multitask and remain calm during busy service periods.
- Experience preparing fresh food in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
Food Safety & Hygiene
Applicants should hold a valid Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 is advantageous) and demonstrate a clear understanding of:
- Cross-contamination prevention.
- Temperature control and food storage.
- Cleaning schedules and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Safe food handling procedures.
