Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machines, ensuring precision and quality in production. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience in various machining processes. The successful applicant will contribute to the creation of high-quality components, utilising a range of tools and techniques including grinding, milling, and welding. A solid understanding of CAD software such as SolidWorks and basic maths skills are essential to excel in this position.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce components according to specifications
Interpret technical drawings and CAD files using SolidWorks and other CAD software
Perform grinding, milling, and other machining operations with precision
Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and tooling to assist in assembly and finishing processes
Apply welding techniques where necessary to assemble or repair parts
Ensure adherence to safety standards and maintain a clean work environment
Perform quality checks on finished products, including measurements using basic math skills
Assist in plastics injection moulding processes when required
Troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly to minimise downtime

Requirements

Proven experience in CNC machining, with knowledge of milling, grinding, and welding techniques
Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, for designing or interpreting technical drawings
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to use hand tools, power tools, and tooling effectively
Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tasks
Familiarity with plastics injection moulding processes is desirable
Ability to read technical drawings accurately and interpret specifications
Knowledge of assembly procedures and use of various hand tools and power tools
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical engineering or machining are preferred
