About the Role
We are a small but expanding construction company seeking an experienced and reliable Self-Employed General Builder to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled tradesperson with a broad range of construction experience to work on a variety of residential and commercial projects.
The ideal candidate will be based locally to Tiverton for ease of commuting and will hold a valid CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) registration.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct, repair, and maintain buildings and structures using a variety of materials.
- Carry out general building works, including carpentry, masonry, roofing, painting, and basic plumbing.
- Fabricate and install structural components such as walls, floors, and roofing systems.
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Work closely with colleagues and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Identify and resolve on-site issues efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Follow all relevant health and safety regulations and company procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in general building/construction.
- Valid CIS registration.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong practical skills across multiple building trades.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to quality workmanship and site safety.
Desirable Skills
Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
- Carpentry
- Roofing
- Painting and decorating
- Plumbing
- Brickwork and masonry
- Property maintenance and refurbishment
