About Us
Primary Eyecare Services is the largest not-for-profit provider of NHS primary and community eye care services in England. Established over a decade ago in the North West, we now operate nationally, delivering enhanced community-based eye care through a network of over 3,000 optometry practices.
We work closely with NHS commissioners and Trusts to deliver accessible, high-quality care, supported by teams with expertise in NHS contracting, patient support, referral triage, and telemedicine.
Role Overview
Referral Management Clerks (SPoA) work within our Operations Directorate, supporting the delivery of our NHS Single Point of Access Referral Service and/or our Telemedicine Community Urgent Eyecare Service.
You will contribute to service efficiencies, support senior managers, and act as a point of contact for the referral management team. The role also involves:
- Team Training: Supporting knowledge sharing and training delivery
- Failsafe: Ensuring accurate referral actions and tracking
- Customer Service: Providing excellent service to patients and providers
- Data Management: Accurate data input, planning, and reporting
- Reporting: Supporting our feedback and reporting processes
- Policy Support: Working collaboratively with management to deliver employee policies
You may also be allocated specific role-related tasks and will be required to identify and report any service issues.
Shift Pattern
We are recruiting one candidate for the following schedule:
- Monday (9am to 5pm with 1-hour break)
- Tuesday (9am to 5pm with 1-hour break)
- Thursday (9am to 5pm with 1-hour break)
- Friday (9am to 5pm with 1-hour break)
- Saturday (9am to 5pm with 1-hour break)
Please note we are unable to offer alternative shifts as these are based on the needs of the business
Salary
The FTE salary is £24,570 per annum
Location
This is a hybrid role, combining home working with attendance at our Manchester Head Office in line with our hybrid working policy subject to the success of the probationary period.
General Responsibilities
- Coordinating and prioritising NHS referrals
- NHS and PES inbox management, list allocation, and monitoring
- Oversight and management of ERS lists
- Ensuring daily referral management tasks are completed safely and in line with risk processes
- Supporting training and skill-sharing across the referral team
- Working collaboratively with the failsafe team
- Supporting IT implementation and process changes
- Assisting with mobilisation of new referral-related services
- Responding to stakeholder enquiries via Help Scout and NHS email
- Carrying out other duties as required
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Minimum 12 months’ administration experience
- Excellent interpersonal and logical-thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong IT skills (particularly MS Office)
- Experience working from home and managing time effectively
Desirable
- Minimum 5 GCSEs including English and Maths
- Experience delivering NHS referral management services
