Full job description

About the role

Alifab (Welding & Fabrication) Ltd are looking for an experienced Laser Operator / Programmer to join our growing team in Stoke-on-Trent.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can take ownership of the laser process from receiving drawings through to nesting, programming and production.

Key responsibilities

Operate CNC laser cutting machinery safely and efficiently
Use Radan software to draw, nest and create programs
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Select and manage material requirements
Load and unload sheet material
Operate a forklift truck
Carry out basic machine checks and maintain a clean work area
Liaise with production to ensure jobs move through on time
Identify opportunities to improve utilisation and reduce waste

Essential requirements

Previous laser operating experience (essential)
Previous experience using Radan
Ability to draw, nest and create programs independently
Valid forklift licence / previous forklift experience
Able to read technical drawings
Good organisation and problem-solving skills
Positive attitude and ability to work within a team

Desirable

Experience with Bystronic or similar laser systems
Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing environments
Experience working with stainless, aluminium and mild steel
