Due to a high number of new child enrolments at our settings, we have a job vacancy with an immediate start. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team.
Qualifications are desirable for this role, and you will need to be someone who is dynamic, able to use your own initiative, work as part of a team and time manage your day effectively to ensure the smooth running of our setting. Having worked with children before is essential to the role.
Location, Salary and Hours: Bishops Stortford and Stanstead based location. hours being 7.30am-9.00am then 14.30-18.30pm Monday to Thursday . Salary dependent on qualifications and experience of the candidate and can be agreed by mutual consent.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a warm smiley face that makes every child feel special.
- Is able to laugh at jokes they don’t understand, or don’t find funny.
- Preferably has a little bit of quirkiness.
- If a child requests that they be the captain of a pirate ship, they will be the best pirate they can be.
- Feels comfortable telling everyone in the room that they are going to the toilet!
- Doesn’t have the ability to sing in tune, but has the confidence to sing out of tune in front of a crowd.
- Must be able to distribute warm hugs as and when required.
- Must possess the skills required to rapidly count the heads of numerous small moving people. This is of the utmost importance.
- Must be comfortable entering public places on the way home from work, with unknown substances on their clothing.
- Must have a high level of comfort talking about bodily functions.
- Must have the ability to eat playdough creations realistically. This is an essential requirement along with drinking numerous cups of pretend tea.
- Must have the ability to read a ten- page story, upside down, with at least 4 interruptions per page.
- Must be prepared to have lots of fun in the workplace. Laughter is something you can expect to engage in for a large part of your working day.
- Loves being outside come rain or shine. At our settings we love the great outdoors.
- Finally, you must be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many young children and their families. There is simply no other job quite like it.
Responsibilities of this Role:
· Responsible to the settings manager as well as the Senior Leadership Team of Early Bird and Night Owl Childcare Ltd
· Working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework and ensuring criteria of this framework is met at all times.
· Adhering to the values and vision of Early Bird and Night Owl Childcare Ltd, abiding by the agreed policies and procedures to ensure provision is of the highest quality.
· Understanding and embracing the curriculum and the Curiosity Approach as the pedagogy of our settings.
· Interacting on a professional level with all colleagues and establishing and maintaining good working relationships which will promote the development and effective delivery of the curriculum and maximise children’s learning and development.
· Responsible for the pastoral care and safeguarding of the children within the cohort, ensuring that children’s safety, wellbeing and welfare are at the forefront of all you do.
Essential requirements for this role:
· Understanding the varied needs of children and their families
· Ability to provide and facilitate safe and creative play and learning
· Ability to work as a team and on own initiative using sound judgement and common sense.
· Effective communication skills.
Essential requirements for this role but can be obtained through the setting:
· DBS certificate/clean criminal record
· Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
· Paediatric First Aid Certificate
· Safeguarding Children Certificate
If successful, candidates will be signed up to NoodleNow Training and a full Induction programme will need to be completed over a 3 month period.
