Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Handyman to join our team As a Handyman, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the care home, creating a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our residents and staff.
You will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks, from minor repairs to regular upkeep of the premises.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a candidate with strong knowledge and experience in both plumbing and electrical work.
- Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance issues around the care home (e.g., plumbing, electrical, heating, and general building maintenance).
- Perform minor repairs such as fixing doors, windows, furniture, and other general wear and tear.
- Ensure all safety and emergency equipment is in proper working order.
- Assist with painting, decorating, and other maintenance tasks.
- Install, repair, and maintain household equipment, plumbing systems, lighting, and more.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, ensuring safety and comfort for all.
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools and supplies.
- Assist with setting up furniture or equipment for special events or activities.
- Work in compliance with health and safety regulations and ensure a clean and safe environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a handyman or maintenance role (experience in a care home or similar environment is a plus).
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and general repairs.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to handle maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe environment.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, as well as perform physical tasks.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in maintenance or repair roles.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Experience in supervising teams or individuals is preferred.
- Proficiency in electrical systems, including installation and repair of wiring.
- Familiarity with welding techniques and equipment is advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics for various systems.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, with the ability to motivate and guide others.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong attention to detail.
