Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for efficient materials handling, inventory management, and ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a fast-paced environment, supporting the storage, movement, and dispatch of goods. Prior warehouse experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. The position is paid and suitable for individuals committed to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Duties

Handling materials safely and efficiently, including loading and unloading goods from lorries using appropriate equipment such as forklifts
Operating warehouse management systems to track stock movements and update inventory records accurately
Picking and packing orders according to specified requirements to ensure timely dispatch
Stocking shelves and organising storage areas to optimise space utilisation and accessibility
Assisting with shipping and receiving processes, including verifying deliveries against purchase orders
Conducting quality control checks to ensure products meet company standards before dispatch
Performing mechanical maintenance or troubleshooting minor issues with warehouse equipment as needed
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety regulations

Skills

Proven experience in materials handling, stock management, or warehouse operations is advantageous
Ability to operate forklift trucks safely; relevant certification is desirable but training can be provided
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory control and order processing
Strong understanding of shipping & receiving procedures and documentation requirements
Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance or troubleshooting
Physical capability for heavy lifting and load/unload activities throughout the shift
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail for picking, packing, and quality checks
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Pay: £12.21-£19.22 per hour
