Full job description

Join our small, friendly team at an independent garage in Chard Junction! We’re looking for a skilled Bodyshop Technician who takes pride in delivering high-quality repairs and excellent customer service. Working within a close-knit, supportive group where everyone’s contribution matters, you’ll carry out vehicle body repairs and refinishing to manufacturer standards, combining panel repair and paint refinishing skills to achieve exceptional results efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

Assess vehicle damage and determine appropriate repair methods.
Remove, repair, and replace damaged panels using approved techniques and tools.
Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming.
Mix and apply paint to match original finishes using spray equipment and colour-matching systems.
Finish painted surfaces to a high standard.
Ensure all work meets manufacturer and insurance standards.
Maintain accurate job records and adhere to workshop schedules.
Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and well maintained.
Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.

Skills and Experience

Proven experience as a panel beater and/or paint technician in an automotive body shop.
Strong knowledge of vehicle body repair and refinishing processes.
Ability to use a range of body repair and paint application tools and equipment.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Good time management and ability to meet deadlines.
Understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop environment.

Qualifications

Relevant automotive repair qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Body Repair or equivalent experience).
Full UK driving licence.
Manufacturer or paint system training (desirable).
