PM SHIFT 3PM-12AM
The Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible for the correct following of all aspects of quality, hygiene, food safety & integrity and support health & safety within the company.
They will ensure that all products made at Percys meet the highest quality standards and comply with all regulatory and customers’ requirements for Food Safety, Quality and Integrity. This role involves decision making, accurate and efficient communication, a keen eye to details, time management, planning and execution to maintain and improve product quality, hygiene standards, health & safety practices, and GMP. Contribute to the site being audit ready at all times.
1) Quality Assurance Oversight
· Implement quality assurance policies and procedures as directed by the Technical Manager with the assistance of the QA Lead.
· Implement quality control processes and adjust as necessary.
· Ensure traceability is maintained throughout the manufacturing process by conduction daily line spot checks, paperwork and traceability software inspection, sign off and filing away
· Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
· Collating product samples and storing them for shelf-life monitoring
· Daily equipment belts verification checks
· Daily Scales and automatic checkweighers calibration
· Daily checkweigher average weights downloading, verification and filing in the system.
· Daily temperature control checks
· Daily product taste panels
· Weekly finished product taste panel
· Raise any issues as appropriate to the QA Lead and Production Supervisors
3) Operational duties
· Liaise with production operators and the hygiene supervisor to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the workplace.
· Inspect line clean down and equipment washout prior to start a new product
· Prepare, check and maintain required documentation and reports.
· Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
4) Team Player and Development
· Provide guidance and support to the production teams with regards to product quality, food safety and integrity
· Assist in NPD trials with samples, photographs, and QAS update as required
· Foster a culture of quality, hygiene, and safety awareness.
· Assist in internal training
· Deputise for the QA Lead when necessary
5) Stakeholder Engagement
· Collaborate with other departments to meet food safety, quality, integrity, hygiene, and H&S standards.
· Address and resolve any quality or safety concerns raised by staff.
· This area is collaborative and will likely require multiple key staff to address.
· Utilising quieter seasonal periods for additional training to support the above key areas.
6) Control of Product non-conformity
· Use the 5 why process of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify effective Corrective Action (CA) for all product & procedural non-conformities, identified within the manufacturing process, are raised and tracked
· Ensure effective controls (Quarantine & Hold, Concession etc.) are in place to control any - identified and that NCs are closed out within the agreed timescales.
7) Internal Audits
· Conduct and complete internal audits (Quality Management System, Glass & Hard Plastic & GMP) in a timely manner as per schedule
8) Laboratory Sampling
· Take routine swabs, air plates, allergen swabs, hand swabs, ATP & hygiene swabs, water samples as per the environmental monitoring schedule
· Take/collate end of life and other product samples as directed by the QA Lead
· Report tests consumable stock levels are reported to QA Lead on a monthly basi
9) Organoleptic Assessments and Taste Panel
The Quality Assurance Officer may be required to perform other duties as specified by the Technical Manager and QA Lead as required. The Key Tasks detailed with this Job Description are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of the duties that the job holder may be required to undertake.
KPI's:
· Year-on-year improvement in product quality, hygiene standards and waste.
· Reduction in health & safety incidents.
· Successful implementation of quality and safety initiatives.
· Successful training and continuous monitoring of training matrix.
Skills and qualifications:
· Proven experience in a food manufacturing, preferably in a related industry.
· Strong knowledge of quality assurance, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
· Excellent communication, and organisational skills.
· Ability to work flexibly, including shifts and weekends (overtime), as required, .
· Minimum Level 2 HACCP Qualification
· Minimum Level 2 Food Safety Qualification
· Internal auditing is desirable but not essential
Sensory evaluation course is desirable but not essential.
