Full job description

Frindsbury House is a charity-run Residential Care Home supporting adults with Physical and Neurological conditions with a focus on Huntington’s Disease. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to manage our invaluable activities team to support our residents in enjoying both person-centred external leisure and social events alongside creative pursuits and activities within the home.

Candidates will be required to have experience of working in an activities team and within a care environment.

Candidates are required to have a full UK driving license (manual) as driving our fleet vehicles is an essential part of the role.

The key functions of the role are:

Work as part of the care team to provide kind, dignified and individualised support.
Plan and manage a varied programme of social, leisure and community‑based activities.
Ensure activities are tailored to each resident through regular consultation, assessment and review in meetings, liaising with relatives and friends and following known wishes of resident if communication deteriorates.
Support residents to maintain independence, daily living skills and community connections.
Provide one‑to‑one engagement for residents who do not join group activities.
Recognise and support cultural, emotional and religious needs in all activity planning.
Respect resident wishes however not making assumptions that these choices will always remain the same.
Lead and coordinate the activities team to ensure all planned sessions are fully staffed and supported.
Lead and note Activities Staff Meetings every 3 months with 2 further meetings to plan the annual summer and Christmas parties.
Manage rotas according to align with planned programme, allocate responsibilities and ensure cover for outings, appointments and events.
Liaise with families, staff and external groups to organise celebrations, special events and community involvement.
Ensure safe planning for all activities, including risk assessments, transport arrangements and equipment needs.
Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date activity records, Nourish records and evaluations.
Ensure documentation clearly links activities to care plans and individual outcomes.
Provide evidence for audits, reviews and family updates.
Use good administrative and organisational skills to manage schedules, resources and planning cycles. Ensure that planning is clear and programme available in advance ensuring that residents are not disappointed through cancellations due to poor planning.
Complete mandatory training including Safeguarding and Mental Capacity Act.
Report safeguarding concerns immediately.
Follow all Health & Safety requirements, including safe practice during activities and outings.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with Data Protection and GDPR requirements.
Follow all Mortimer Society policies and procedures.
Contribute to a positive, respectful and inclusive team culture.
Attend staff meetings and participate in continuous professional development.
Carry out the appropriate number of meaningful supervisions annually and appraisal where when a year’s service has been achieved.
Support colleagues to ensure high standards of social and leisure provision across the home.
Respond to reasonable requests that promote resident dignity, choice and wellbeing.

The hours for the position are 40 hours across a 7 day week. Predominantly this would be 8am to 4pm but flexibility to adjust these hours is required on occasion to facilitate days out, theatre trips and other out of hours activities. 2 - 3 weekend days to be worked in a 4 week rota period.
