Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Pastry Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a professional kitchen environment, specialising in pastry and dessert creation. The successful candidate will support the head pastry chef in preparing high-quality baked goods, ensuring consistency and adherence to food safety standards. This paid position is ideal for individuals looking to advance their culinary career within a reputable establishment.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and production of a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards
Support the head pastry chef in planning menus and developing new pastry ideas
Ensure all food preparation complies with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organised workspace
Measure ingredients accurately and execute baking techniques with precision
Manage stock levels, including ordering supplies and ingredients as needed
Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform routine maintenance checks
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods
Follow all food safety protocols, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation procedures

Skills

Proven experience in food production, food preparation, or baking within a professional kitchen setting
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques specific to pastries and desserts
Excellent understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Previous restaurant or culinary experience is highly desirable
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
Passion for baking and creating visually appealing desserts
Strong teamwork ethic with excellent communication skills
