Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and personable Head Waiter/Waitress to support our restaurant manager in leading our front-of-house team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The successful candidate will oversee service operations, ensure guest satisfaction, and maintain high standards of hospitality. This role requires a confident leader with a strong background in restaurant service, food safety, and guest relations. The Head Waiter/Waitress will play a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere while managing daily service activities efficiently.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the waiting staff to ensure smooth service delivery during each shift
Greet guests warmly and assist with seating arrangements to optimise flow and comfort
Take accurate orders from guests, offering menu recommendations and upselling where appropriate
Serve food and beverages promptly while maintaining high standards of presentation and etiquette
Ensure all health and safety regulations, including food safety standards, are strictly adhered to
Manage reservations, handle guest inquiries, and resolve any complaints or issues professionally
Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders
Oversee cleanliness and organisation of the dining area before, during, and after service shifts
Assist in training new staff members to uphold service standards and company policies

Experience

Proven experience in hospitality or restaurant service roles, ideally as a Head Waiter/Waitress or Supervisor
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures
Experience with food preparation and kitchen operations is advantageous
Excellent guest service skills with the ability to anticipate guest needs and provide personalised attention
Competence in basic maths for billing, splitting bills, and handling transactions accurately
Familiarity with upselling techniques to enhance guest experience and maximise revenue
Effective time management skills to handle busy service periods efficiently
Previous experience in culinary environments or with culinary teams is desirable but not essential
