Chemistry Graduate
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Chemistry Graduate to join our Technical Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a strong scientific background who enjoys hands-on laboratory work and problem-solving within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify and calibrate laboratory equipment and process controls as required.
- Perform routine and monthly verification analysis on all finished goods and raw materials.
- Assess raw materials for non-conformances and support the resolution of quality issues.
- Monitor and verify growing media and fertiliser blending processes to ensure they remain within specification.
- Maintain strict contamination control measures in finished products.
- Collaborate with the Technical Manager to drive process improvements and introduce innovation.
- Oversee all Technical Laboratory documentation, including SOPs, training records, and Health & Safety documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date product specifications, labelling protocols, and packaging information.
- Liaise with Health & Safety and Site Services teams to address issues identified through GMP audits.
- Review raw material metering and finished goods fill data to ensure compliance with legal and internal standards.
- Work closely with Technical and Maintenance teams during new product development (NPD) or unplanned technical events.
- Support research and development activities for new products and raw materials.
- Conduct batch release and in-process control testing for all production runs.
- Assist in research and development of new products and evaluation of new ingredients.
- Provide chemical and technical support to process technicians as required.
- Maintain accurate COSHH and MSDS documentation in collaboration with the H&S team.
- Operate and maintain the Fertiliser Pilot Plant to support testing and innovation.
- Record, retain, and monitor all finished goods samples for stability testing and complaints management.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 6 months’ relevant laboratory experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing or industrial environment (this may include a placement).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow standardised analytical and testing procedures accurately.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Organised and methodical approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience using Ion Chromatography or HPLC equipment.
- Demonstrable experience working with calibration standards in analytical chemistry applications.
- Understanding of chemistry to A-Level standard (minimum).
- Degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques and laboratory best practices.
- High degree of self-discipline, adaptability, and ability to work effectively under pressure, particularly during peak production periods.
