Job Overview:
To support the efficient operation and technical development of Colorlites’ spray decoration department by undertaking production sampling, paint preparation, colour matching, spray line setup and process support activities, while developing the capability to provide operational cover for the Spray Team Leader and contribute to continuous improvement across the department.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and produce production and customer approval samples to required specifications and deadlines
- Mix, prepare and accurately colour match paints and coatings for production and sampling requirements
- Undertake hand spraying of samples and specialist production requirements to agreed quality standards
- Assist with spray line setup, tooling changes and spray gun preparation for production runs
- Clean, maintain and prepare spray lines, paint systems and associated equipment
- Support the Spray Team Leader in daily operation of the spray department
- Provide technical support to operators during production runs to ensure efficiency and quality output
- Monitor coating performance and identify adjustments required to achieve specification
- Maintain accurate records of paint mixes, colour references and process settings
- Troubleshoot spray process issues and escalate where required
- Assist with process development and improvement projects to enhance quality and productivity
- Support production trials for new customer developments and product launches
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company quality procedures and customer specifications
- Adhere to all health, safety and environmental procedures relating to paint handling and spray operations
- Develop knowledge and capability to provide operational cover during Team Leader absence
- Collaborate with production, quality and commercial teams to support customer requirements
Experience:
- Previous experience in industrial spraying, coatings application or automated spray line operation
- Experience of paint mixing, viscosity control and colour matching
- Good mechanical aptitude with ability to set up and adjust production equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to achieving high quality standards
- Ability to diagnose process issues and work methodically to resolve them
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Willingness to learn technical processes and develop into broader departmental responsibility
- Understanding of health and safety practices within manufacturing environment
Desirable:
- Glass decoration industry experience
- Screen printing or decorative print process exposure
- Automated production line setup/changeover
- Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement experience
- Technical sampling or product development support
- Leadership or shift-cover responsibility
This role offers significant technical development opportunities, with structured training across Colorlites’ spray processes and the opportunity to progress into broader technical or departmental leadership responsibility as capability develops.
Full-time - Monday to Friday.
