Job Introduction
East Durham College is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Lecturer to deliver high-quality GCSE Science provision to Key Stage 4 learners within our Alternative Education (Home Educated and Engage) programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting learners with diverse needs and helping them achieve success in their education and future progression.

You will:

Deliver engaging and effective lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Plan, assess and track learner progress to ensure strong achievement

Differentiate learning to meet a wide range of needs, including SEND and SEMH learners

Prepare students for GCSE exams through targeted interventions and revision strategies

Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment, particularly for practical work

Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement
-
Support wider college life, including enrichment activities such as STEM clubs
We are looking for someone who:
-
Holds (or is working towards) a Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed/DTLLS)

Has a degree (Level 6) in a science-related subject

Has experience delivering GCSE Science to 14–16 learners

Can confidently teach and support students with additional needs

Is skilled in differentiation, assessment and data tracking

Can engage, motivate and inspire learners of all abilities

Works effectively both independently and as part of a team
