Job Summary
Freedom Community Alliance (FCA) is a Christian charity based in Barnstaple that delivers support to vulnerable local adults at risk of homelessness and/or struggling with addiction and other life challenges.
The charity is based at the Freedom Centre from where many of its services are delivered. FCA provides Day Centre services 5 days a week where individuals can access practical and emotional support. From Monday to Thursday each week this includes an open access service between 1130hrs and 1330hrs where visitors can also have a hot meal from a well equipped kitchen based there.
As well as the day centre area, the premises has staff offices, interview rooms, showers, toilets, a GP surgery and other treatment room, a gym, reception area and a pod area with separate lounger and kitchen which are used on a nightly basis by individuals who may otherwise be rough sleeping.
The cleaning role is an integral part of the work of the charity in delivering FCA services to clients in line with the FCA mission, vision and values. The cleaner will contribute significantly in creating a clean, hygienic, positive and professional environment for visitors to the centre whether they are clients, staff members or other visitors.
The role holder will take personal responsibility for all aspects of cleanliness and hygiene across the whole premises ensuring it is a safe, clean, professional and welcoming environment for all users of the centre.
The role includes management of the cleaning store on site and, with the support of the reception team, ensuring essential cleaning stocks are well managed and maintained. The role holder will be required to keep true and accurate records of essential tasks as directed and ensure they complete all role related training as directed.
There is a need for the role holder to work early mornings with their work being completed before 10am.
FCA also manages a number of supported housing properties in Barnstaple and the work of the Freedom Cleaner may include supporting other members of the team in cleaning these properties as agreed.
MAIN DUTIES:
· Take overall responsibility for creating a clean, hygienic and professional environment for all users of the Freedom Centre.
· Clean and sanitise all designated areas including day centre, reception, offices, interview rooms, toilets, showers, surgery/treatment rooms, gym, pod area including pods (once a week).
· Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish surfaces as detailed in the set cleaning schedule.
· Follow strict infection control procedures, especially within clinical areas.
· Empty bins and ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with health and safety and environmental regulations.
· Keep true and accurate records of completed tasks as required.
· Working with the reception team to ensure the constant restocking of all essential cleaning supplies.
· Report any maintenance or repair issues promptly.
· Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are used and stored safely and correctly in line with COSHH Regs.
· Support the Housing Cleaning team in their work as agreed.
· Adhere to all FCA policies including health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
· To support and promote the values of FCA towards staff, volunteers and clients.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
The postholder will need to:-
· Have previous cleaning experience preferred, particularly in healthcare or similar environments.
· Possess a good knowledge of hygiene standards and infection control.
· Be well motivated with a strong sense of personal responsibility for delivering the highest cleaning standards
· Be able to work independently and manage time effectively with minimum supervision.
· Be reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
· Be systematic, thorough and have a good attention to detail.
· Have a good understanding of health and safety responsibilities including managing risks.
· Adhere to all FCA policies including health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
· Have a positive, friendly approach to others.
· Have the ability to demonstrate and maintain a non judgemental attitude at all times.
· Maintain confidentiality in line with FCA GDPR policy.
· Be a good team player.
· Show a degree of flexibility to the work.
· Be committed and conscientious having the ability to carry out work with minimal supervision.
· Embrace and promote the values of FCA.
