Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Fitter to join our small family team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, servicing and MOT preparation of our own heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Plus some customer work. The position is paid (salary dependant on experience) and suitable for individuals with a strong mechanical background and relevant experience in HGV repair.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify faults or potential issues.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy vehicles, including engine, transmission, braking systems, and suspension components.
- Carry out equipment repair, assembly, and overhaul work in accordance with safety standards.
- Maintain detailed records of all work carried out for compliance and future reference.
- Ensure all work is performed in line with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
- Assist with general maintenance tasks across the workshop or site as needed.
Skills
- Proven experience in mechanical repairs.
- Must be able to be self motivating and able to organise their own work load.
- Strong knowledge of schematics and wiring diagrams relevant to heavy vehicles.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge with a focus on vehicle assembly, repair, and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues accurately using electrical experience and schematics.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. This role offers an engaging opportunity for experienced HGV fitters
Pay: £20.00-£25.00 per hour
