Full job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the Chorley Inpatient Mental Health Units at Chorley and South Ribble General Hospital.

A passionate, empathic and resilient personality is essential, along with positive and collaborative teamwork skills in order to maintain a safe and positive culture that promotes patient recovery.

The successful applicant will be expected to work a pattern of both days and nights to cover this 24 hours a day 7 days a week service.

The Inpatient wards / units are designed to meet the acute holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a person centred recovery focussed environment. This working environment is conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder will support staff members in the assessment, planning and provision of care in line with national and local nursing and health and safety policy. The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility demonstrating use of professional skills, knowledge and expertise in the provision of high quality care. The post holder will adopt integral role in the development of junior staff and quality improvement to enhance patient, carer and staff experience. There is an expectation that the post holder will utilise research audit and enquiry to lead improvements in care.

Actively promoting teamwork, respect, kindness and ongoing learning within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and code of conduct.

Demonstrating clinical leadership and oversight in terms of the clinical practice of others.

Delivering Clinical Supervision to Junior Staff, acting as the shift lead and role model, carrying out clinical audits as required.

To have comprehensive knowledge and awareness of clinical SOPs, working closely with nursing team to ensure patient care is reviewed and maintained in line with these.

Providing nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensuring the effective assessment formulation planning and monitoring of care given to inpatient service users ensuring that inpatient service users are receiving high quality care, in the right place at the right time every time.

To ensure that the inpatient nursing team has an in-depth understanding of the current and ever present potential for risk; is able to communicate the situation effectively, and be responsive in the provision of appropriate interventions. This includes risk associated with violence and aggression, vulnerability, neglect, falls, skin integrity, mobility, self-harm and suicide
