Butchery Assistant
We are looking for a reliable, motivated and proactive Butchery Assistant to join our Butchery team based at Embleton.
This hands-on role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth daily running of our butchery department, maintaining high standards of quality, stock accuracy and food safety. Our butchery team manage the preparation and packaging of our meat, poultry and game products reading for distribution to our customer base, creating a busy and varied environment, suited to someone who takes pride in high standards.
We are seeking a friendly, hardworking team player who contributes positively to the wider team. You will be adaptable, proactive and committed to ensuring customers receive fresh, high-quality produce every time.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of raw meat products
- Booking stock accurately into the butchery management system
- Using equipment safely and effectively (full training provided)
- Maintaining high operational standards across storage and working area
- Ensuring correct stock rotation and date code compliance
- Supporting regular stock checks and inventory controls
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to meet daily operational demands
- Following food safety, health & safety and hygiene procedures at all times
Requirements
- Experience working in a butchery environment preferred
- Understanding of raw meat handling and quality standard
- Good attention to detail, particularly when checking quality and rotation
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-moving, physically active role
- Willingness to learn and use butchery systems and equipment
- Strong teamwork skills with a positive, can-do attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards
- Awareness of food safety and hygiene practices (advantageous but not essential)

Schedule: Monday to Saturday rota, early starts required, flexible shift availability is essential.
